The Idaho State Department of Agriculture has a Pesticide Disposal Program for agricultural producers, dealers, homeowners and applicators throughout the state. Insecticides, fungicides, rodenticides, etc. that you no longer need may qualify.
Consider the following questions:
- Is the pesticide several years old?
- Has the pesticide been subjected to extreme temperatures?
- Has the EPA suspended or cancelled the product registration?
- Has the State registration been cancelled or expired? Contact the ISDA at (208) 465-8442 if you do not know the registration status of the pesticide.
If you answered "no" to all of these questions...
Can someone else use the product?
This product may still be usable. You may want to check with your neighbors or county extension agent to see if someone can use the chemical.
If you answered "yes" to any of these questions...
The unusable pesticide can be included in the next collection near you. Your participation in the ISDA Pesticide Disposal Program is voluntary. Participants' names are completely confidential and there is no fee for the first 1000 lbs. collected for each participant.
See the PDP page on the ISDA website for collection locations and schedule. (Note: pre-registration is no longer a requirement of the program.)
